Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be based in the UK to register as a User?
NoCan I use funding from outside the UK to type samples?
YesI work for a commercial company. Can I apply to register? Can I access data and samples?
Yes. Yes. Assuming there are no conflictual ethical, legal or social issues.I am a collector outside the UK DNA Banking Network. Can I join the Network?
Yes. Contact the UDBN Administrator at administrator@dna-network.ac.uk.
UDBN will accept new collections (as blood or DNA) using this Materials Transfer Agreement. For simplicity, clarity and reciprocity among all users, UDBN wishes to keep the same terms for all users. If any changes are requested, some delay is inevitable.
I want to get funding for a new disease-based or prospective collection. What can UDBN do to help?
UDBN will work with you both during the accrual of the new resource and during the lifetime of the resource.
During accrual, UDBN can
- provide an online questionnaire aimed at participants in your study
- provide a centralised project management system that allows you to see in real time what samples and what data have been accrued at your collection centres
- provide sample tracking from collection centre to processing centre
- provide a project manager overseeing accrual and tracking
- provide log-in and processing services for DNA, for serum, for plasma, for urine and for cell lines (in conjunction with ECACC)
For UDBN to provide this support, we recommend currently that you include UDBN in your grant proposal as a resource management collaborator. Contact the UDBN Administrator at administrator@dna-network.ac.uk.
